Really, check it out

Okay, I really liked my physiognomies, but this new greeting card section is very funny. Rachem - I think you'll really enjoy the humour - check it out.

"I laughed, I cried, it moved me Bob"

Lake Cootharaba

We shared the camp ground with some kangaroos, they seemed pretty friendly.

One of my friends who came camping, under water, for those who know her, have a guess who it is.

The water was too murky for super underwater photos.

Canoeing between the flowers on the water was peaceful (especially when I was just sitting in the canoe not rowing - which was pretty much all the time - I only had a go at the kayak)

Sometimes it seemed kind of easier to walk with the canoe, then row.

Unfortunately the photo of the snake isn't brilliant as I was being eaten alive by mosquitoes, so I was taking this photo while jiggling and slapping mosquitoes. The snake was really pretty golden looking carpet snake I think it was a couple of metres.

This one is obvious - it's Becky:)

Not broken, just a wuss

Well my hand isn't broken. We took it out of it's cast and re-xrayed it and it is ok. Just a bad sprain. It was recovering nicely until today.. now i'm back to typing one handed. Had a lovely weekend camping and I got too excited and fell on it and tried to paddle a kayak with it and put up tents with it. Now I think it might be more swollen then it was originally and it is really sore again. I do think it was mostly falling on it that did the damage. I took pictures with my new camera, although mostly the water was too mirky for underwater stuff. Also we couldn't see under the water which made it very hard to aim the camera.
I'm going to have to put the photos up later as I seem to be having some blogger problem with putting up photos right now.

Much more excitingly, I am an aunt again. My talented S-I-L had a beautiful girl called Isabella.

Exhausted, am going to bed... Photos of fish, snakes, kangaroos and kayaking to follow another day. All that in one weekend.

Teddies and cameras

Sorry to all that I haven't had a chance to read email, visit blogs and write anything. This is a quick note to say I am hoping to have more photos on here soon... I have a new digital camera! It is the olympus one that on the ad the dog chews and they drop into water. It is 10 metres water proof.

My lovely friend Sally bought me a teddy. It is soooo soft and she bandaged it's arm to look like mine. I took really good care of it because I hoped it would make matthew see how responsible I am, and how ready I am to own a new parrot. No luck on that front.

one handed

Well typing is a labour intensive painful chore. Today I had an unexpected adventure. When I finished work I fell on a slippery embankment.... and felt an intense pain in my right wrist. I went to my car and tried to open the door - with my right wrist... that was quite painful and I had to sit in the car and wait for my dizzy spell to past. I was supposed to be driving to brisbane but when I rang Matt he said I had to go get my wrist xrayed. Unfortunately my practice was closed and I couldn't write myself a request form (plus I don't think the private radiology places are open on the weekend past lunch time) and so I had to go to the public hospital in Nambour. After driving and filling up my car with fuel, I went to the hospital, I had to park ages away because trying to do a reverse parallel park with one hand wasn't going to happen. The long and short of my three hour wait (which I felt I deserved having been so stupid as to fall over). Is that the xrays look normal to me but the consultant in emergency reckons he can see a crack through the distal head of my radius. I admit there is a lot of pain and a semi egg shaped swelling over the head of my radius which hurts like hell. Still I said no to a backslab because it wasn't to aid healing it was just to provide comfort and support and I felt sorry for the intern seeing me. So I just went and got a wrist support from the chemist. Still I now wish I had asked for some panadeine forte. that's all I can type, I'm exhausted, I'm not coming to brisbane this weekend now -too far to drive with my mong wrist.

Last two weeks

Work has been interesting the last few weeks and I can't imagine why people think general practice is boring. Maybe one day it will all become boring to me, but at the moment, I never know what will come in the door. Don't judge me, but I'm practically relieved when someone comes in wanting a papsmear - I can do those! That's easy, I don't have to think about them. I admit those first few days I worked I worried it would all be tears and smears, but it's been different since then. Been a week of bad news for my patients. Had to tell someone they had advanced breast cancer, had to tell someone else they'd had a miscarriage (actually two of my patients had miscarriages), and a little 4 month old I sent up to the hospital, got transferred to ICU in brisbane. I tell you some days I feel like the grim reaper's messenger.

To all those kind people concerned about me, overall I'm doing okay. Trying not to wallow. Just feeling a little more introverted then normal, so if I seem less chatty, it's not personal!

Why

They needed to know the reason why
They took you away just to try
But is there ever a reason
That could really justify

Photographs and anatomy slides
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
All we have left, all that remains
An empty room, full of us

We all search for the silver lining
To an unexpected goodbye
Muttering all the standard lines
Avoid the dirty word: why.
